What is desinfection?
It is the decontamination process of eliminating or reducing harmful microorganisms in the environment- physically (mechanically, by cleaning, washing, etc.) microorganisms are removed or chemically (by heat, radiation, with chemically acids, bases, chlorine, etc.) are killed.
Unlike sterilization, disinfection is not about killing all the microorganisms present, but reducing them to a number which is not going to be harmful for health.
For a successful disinfection and choice of disinfectants and techniques, it is important to know the biological features of microorganisms and their “weak points”. The most important are: fungi and bacteria, viruses, chlamydiae, mycoplasmas and prions.
The disinfection is not only important but also necessary for the preservation of health, because contributes reducing the risk of the emergence and spreading of infectious diseases (from Food rotting, food poisoning to , hospital infection and various other infections). It should always be carried out in all the places where there is a risk of transmitting the diseases and that is why is a key part in prevention and control of infections, as well as an aid in the prevention of infectious diseases.
Disinfection with chemical methods is carried out by applying disinfectants.
Disinfectants are tested and registered chemical disinfection products intended for disinfection. To achieve the desired effect of disinfection, a disinfectant must interact with microorganisms and only then it can damage them or inactivate them, because of mechanism of action which is- denaturation of proteins, damage to the cell membrane, blocking of essential enzyme systems and finally blocking the synthesis of the cell wall.
The efficiency of disinfectants depends of various factors- the pH of the medium, time of operation, the number of species of microorganisms, temperature, the presence of organic matter, concentration of disinfectant…
TIPS FOR 100% MORE SUCCESSFUL DISINFECTION OF YOUR LIVING AND BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT.
We recommend that you comply with some general rules of disinfection:
– whenever possible, the disinfection should be preceded by cleaning and washing, which along with macroscopic impurities significantly reduces the number and viability of microorganisms and with this action you remove the organic substances-blood and such, that can neutralize or absorb disinfectants. In case of very dangerous microorganisms that could harm persons who carry out disinfection, the disinfection should be carried out both before cleaning and after cleaning.
–it takes some time for the disinfectants to act– from 5 to 30 minutes, to fully achieve the intended effect.
–comply with the instructions of use
-when you choose some disinfectants, it is important to think about possible environmental impact and more important about the impact to the health of humans and animals
